The Maharajas’ Express has redefined the luxury travel experience by offering guests an immersive adventure into India’s fabled destinations whilst soaking the rich cultural heritage of the region which leaves the guests with unforgettable memories.

Simply put, the Maharajas Express luxury train is the most lavish medium through which any traveller can experience India’s diversity in a short span of time. With state of the art amenities, eco-friendly technologies and aesthetic interiors; every fine detail of the train has been crafted with careful thought and care. It is maintained and operated by Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a government enterprise.

Maharajas’ Train facilities
The salons of the Maharaja Express train have been styled with influence from the private saloons of the erstwhile Maharajas of India. Each carriage presents a unique ambience as each one has been named after a famous gemstone of the Maharajas and designed following that individual pattern.
Life on board is all about grandeur, panache and recreation.
You will have a gastronomical dining experience aboard two restaurant carriages – Rang Mahal (Color Palace) and Mayur Mahal (Peacock Palace). Socialize or relax in the Rajah Club Lounge and Safari Bar which are essentially the hub of the luxury train. Drinks, snacks, board games, cultural activities with plush seating arrangements account for most of the attraction. You can also learn more by arranging Vedic sessions, astrologer sessions, Bollywood dancing and the tour directors deliver interactive mythology and historical sessions. Also, there are notable guest lecturers on select signature journeys.

Maharaja Train Cabins & Configuration
Stretching about half a mile, the Maharajas’ Express train consists of 23 carriages, which include 14 carriages to accommodate 88 guests; 2 carriages each for restaurant, two bar cars & sitting lounge/boutique and one kitchen car. The guest saloons have been classified into 4 distinct categories of cabins – Deluxe (5 carriages), Junior Suite (6 carriages), Suite (2 carriages) and Presidential Suite (1 carriage). These carriages offer varied level of luxury, and have been named after different expensive gemstones, such as – Moti (Pearl), Panna (Emerald), Feeroza (Turquoise), Manik (Ruby), Heera (Diamond), Neelam (Blue Sapphire), Gomed (Onyx), Pukhraj (Sapphire) and Monga (Coral) etc.
