Though the Maharajas Express Train Tour is owned & operated by a Govt. Organization, both it’s On board & Off Board Services have been outsourced to different Private Companies of International repute. But the General Manager of the train is from IRCTC .
Though there are different Guides in each town visited, there is a common Tour Director ,travelling with you for entire duration of the journey to supervise sightseeing tours.
The Optional off-board Services can be booked through Guest relation Executives available on call.
Though there are fixed times for dining & access to Bar Lounge ,but tea/coffee service is available 24 x7 in your Cabins also. Of course the Guest Booked in Presidential Suite are pampered with an exclusive butler dedicated to them when dining rooms & on-board.
Individual Tipping is not encouraged & there is a Common Tipping box at Main Bar Counter. Depending on which par of the world you are travelling from, minimum tipping standard starts from US$ 20 per night per person.

- On board Staff : Outsourced to leading 5 Star Chain Hotel
- Off Board Staff : Outsourced to Internationally renowned Indian Travel Agency
- Supervisory Staff : from IRCTC

Staff - Palace on Wheels Train
- Train Operator – RTDC (Tourism Dept of Rajasthan State Govt.)
- Both On board & Off Board Staff : Employees of RTDC
- Note : The Managing Director of RTDC based in Jaipur (India) is solely responsible to address any grievance or some unresolved issue during the train journey.
Staff-Golden Chariot Train & Southern Splendour
- Train Operator – KSTDC (Tourism Dept. of Karnataka State Govt.)
- The Train is presently under renovation & Expected to resume Operations from Oct 2019, with outsourced Private Company Staff.
Staff-Deccan Odyssey Train
- Train Operator – MTDC (Tourism Dept of Maharashtra State Govt.) has given operations on long ease to Coxs & Kings
- Both On board & Off Board Staff : Employees of Coxs& Kings
- Note : The CEO of Coxs & Kings based in Mumbai ( India) is solely responsible to address any grievance or some unresolved issue during the train journey.
